Doing us wrong

Verse 1:
In the heartland where the wind blows strong,
Hurricane Helene came and did us wrong.
Families lost everything they had,
But where’s the help when times get bad?

Chorus:
We’re paying our dues, working every day,
But the ones in charge just look away.
Giving our money to lands far and wide,
While our own are left with nowhere to hide.

Verse 2:
Politicians talk, but they never hear,
Promises made just disappear.
Republicans, Democrats, all the same,
Pointing fingers, playing their games.

Chorus:
We’re paying our dues, working every day,
But the ones in charge just look away.
Giving our money to lands far and wide,
While our own are left with nowhere to hide.

Bridge:
We stand together, hearts on fire,
For the country we love, full of desire.
It’s time to rise, make our voices known,
Reclaim the dream we’ve always owned.

Chorus:
We’re paying our dues, working every day,
But the ones in charge just look away.
Giving our money to lands far and wide,
While our own are left with nowhere to hide.

Outro:
Hurricane Helene left its mark deep,
But we’ll stand tall, we won’t retreat.
For the land of the brave, the free, the bold,
We’ll fight for the future, our stories told
