On the Wings of Love

Through golden fields, our hearts take flight,
Like two old sails catchin’ the light.
Beneath a sky wide as can be,
Your love’s the wind that carries me.

We drift ‘cross time like summer clouds,
Away from busy, hurried crowds.
Just you and me on wings unfurled,
Soarin’ high above this world.

The mountain streams all know our song,
The pines stand witness, tall and strong.
While whippoorwills call through the night,
As we sail on in pure delight.

I ain’t much for fancy words,
Just simple truths, like flocks of birds
That know their way back home at dusk—
My love for you’s that kind of trust.

So let the stars guide us along,
Where hearts like ours have always belonged.
On wings of love, we’ll sail away,
‘Til God calls us home someday.
