Vermont Backroads (With You By My Side)

Verse 1:
Got my truck loaded up at the break of dawn
Sweet darling by my side, we’re headed north and gone
Through the Green Mountain state where the maple trees grow tall
With you riding shotgun, I’ve got it all

Chorus:
Rolling through Vermont with my lovely lady
Past the covered bridges and fields so green
Fall colors dancing like we’re living in a painting
It’s the prettiest sight I’ve ever seen
With your hand in mine and the radio playing
These backroads feel like heaven’s door
Vermont’s got beauty, but you’re what I’m craving
Couldn’t ask for nothing more

Verse 2:
Stop for cider donuts in a little country store
Your smile shines brighter than it did before
Winding through the valleys where the church bells ring
You make my heart soar like it’s taken wing

Chorus:
Rolling through Vermont with my lovely lady
Past the covered bridges and fields so green
Fall colors dancing like we’re living in a painting
It’s the prettiest sight I’ve ever seen

Bridge:
When the sun sets behind those rolling hills
And the evening air gives me chills
I pull you closer in that mountain breeze
Vermont’s got magic, but you’re all I need

Final Chorus:
Rolling through Vermont with my lovely lady
This old truck’s seen many a winding road
But with you beside me, every mile’s amazing
Together we’ll go wherever love might go
Vermont backroads and you by my side
That’s all this country boy needs to get by
