Country I Once New

(Verse 1)

He was just a young boy, dreamin’ of the stars and stripes

With a heart full of honor, ready to stand and fight

He signed up for duty, to defend the land of the free

But little did he know, what his eyes would soon see

(Chorus)

He grew up fighting for his country, with pride in his heart

But now he sees America torn apart

The very things he fought against, are creeping in so near

He wonders if his sacrifice was in vain, with a tear

(Verse 2)

He saw the flag wave high, as he marched into the fray

Through battles and struggles, he never lost his way

But now the streets are filled with anger and with hate

And he wonders if it’s too late to change this fate

(Chorus)

He grew up fighting for his country, with pride in his heart

But now he sees America torn apart

The very things he fought against, are creeping in so near

He wonders if his sacrifice was in vain, with a tear

(Bridge)

He remembers the camaraderie, the brotherhood so strong

But now it seems like unity is gone

He longs for the days when the nation stood as one

And prays for a new dawn, when the fighting is done

(Chorus)

He grew up fighting for his country, with pride in his heart

But now he sees America torn apart

The very things he fought against, are creeping in so near

He wonders if his sacrifice was in vain, with a tear

(Outro)

As he looks out at the land he loves, with a heavy heart

He holds onto hope, that a new chapter will start

For a man who grew up fighting for his country so dear

Praying for peace and unity, to make things clear.
